In Kind Theater Project at Poquatuck Hall: Summer 2024

Programs

Main Program - Ages 7+

The 2-week program focuses on the basics of community art and theater. Kids explore creative storytelling, acting, improv, chorus, songwriting, and visual art. For this age group, the afternoons offer more in-depth explorations in Art Department and stage. Kids can sign up for full day, afternoons, or drop-in. The program starts on the afternoon of August 5th.

Main Program Minis - Ages 5+6

Children ages 5 and 6 are invited to participate in the morning session of the Main Program. Drop off is at 9:00AM and pickup is at 11:30AM. Minis programming starts on the morning of August 6th.

Art Department - Ages 7+

Teaching Artist Naomi Clark leads kids aged 7 and up in the afternoon Art Department. Participants explore visual art and design while building the sets and all accompanying art for the final performance.

Improv - Ages 10+

Songwriting I - Ages 12-14 (Children ages 10 and 11 may apply and be accepted on a case-by-case basis.)

The Songwriting I group, ages 12-14, will co-write original material for the final theater production while developing their knowledge in song form, melody, and lyric writing. Small groups will work closely with Ethan Cohen to develop original music. Songs written in Week 1 will be taught to the younger participants to perform in Week 2. Songwriting I will be offered on select afternoons from 4:00-5:30PM.

Songwriting II - Ages 14+

This small group of students will dig deeper into the elements of song construction through co-writing and individualized writing time. Each student will have the opportunity to record their finished work in Week 2. Songwriting I will be offered on select afternoons from 5:30-7:00PM.

Interns - Ages 13+

Teens aged 13 and up are invited to intern in Assistant Directing, Assistant Engineering, Photography, Set Design, and more. Interns are eligible for free classes and can drop in as their schedules allow.
